UI/UX Case Study

IAD Top
Summary

Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) is when an individual develops the compulsive need to spend a great deal of time on the Internet, to the point where relationships, work, and health are allowed to suffer.

For this Univeristy project, I created an informative website that warns users of the consequences of internet usage.

Tools

Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop

Duration

Problem

Technology continues to advance with the young generation exposed to electronics and the internet. Internet addiction disorder can affect anyone from different age groups. Many people are unaware of the consequences of spending too much time on the internet. User-interfaces are designed to keep users on the web for long periods of time.

Design Challenge

How do we inform people about Internet Addiction Disorder?

How do we prevent younger generations to avoid obsessive internet usage?

Solution

An informative website that distributes all the important facts about internet addiction disorder. Since internet addiction is not known by many people, I added graphs and plenty of statistics to inform my audience that internet addiction disorder is real and can be developed by anyone. The website is designed to help guide first-time users on the topic with a captivating introduction, gradually going in-depth. The more users I inform and convince, the more people would stray away from obsessive internet usage. This website will also inform parents of the consequences of their children being exposed to the internet for long periods of time. Thus, convincing parents about this topic may change the way younger generations age with the internet.

WEBSITE WALKTHROUGH

DESIGN PROCESS

Illustrations

Since it is critical to focus on the younger generations who are born in the world of technology and are unaware of the consequences of internet usage, I decided to make the user interface friendly to younger users as well. I designed many illustrations that would suit the website and for the younger users as well. Take a look at some of them below!

REFLECTION

Reflection

Overall, this was a fun project to work on! I enjoyed creating illustrative assets while playing around with Adobe XD animations and prototyping. I'm really glad I got the chance to give my illustrations more life and movement from the animations tools Adobe XD had.
